The Trail of Lost Hearts Is Available now!

  • March 26, 2024
The Trail of Lost Hearts is HERE! Please accept my heartfelt thanks for all your support and enthusiasm as I launch another book into the world. I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know. You can purchase your ebook, hardcover, and audiobook by clicking here

So many readers have included the phrase “This was so much more than a romance novel” in their reviews which has been truly wonderful to hear. The Trail of Lost Hearts is contemporary fiction which means the focus will be on the characters’ journeys, with a strong emphasis on whatever is standing between them and what they need the most. But trust me when I say there’s a slow-burning, swoony romantic storyline running concurrently alongside the character arcs that makes their future together feel EARNED.

Chapter 42 might be my favorite thing I’ve ever written. (Please don’t sneak a peek unless you want to run headfirst into a big old spoiler).

If I could ask for one favor to help make this launch day extra memorable, it’s that you simply tell a friend, co-worker, family member, or stranger on the street how much you enjoyed the story, and ask them to check it out. Word of mouth is always the best way to support a book you love.

xoxo,

THE TRAIL OF LOST HEARTS PLAYLIST

  • March 23, 2024

Have you read The Trail of Lost Hearts? Today I’m sharing the playlist for the book. Some of the songs are taken directly from Wren’s playlist that she and Marshall listen to while on their adventure. The playlist loosely follows the order of the plot, so if you’ve already met Wren and Marshall, I’m curious if you can see the narrative unfolding. The songs’ lyrics are not a perfect literal translation, but they certainly capture the theme of what was happening at that point in the book.

You can access the playlist by clicking HERE. Enjoy!

The Trail of Lost Hearts will be released this Tuesday, March 26th. Pre-order your copy HERE!

Publisher’s Weekly Review of The Trail of Lost Hearts

  • January 5, 2024

Good morning and TGIF!

I’m excited to share the first trade review for The Trail of Lost Hearts. This is, hands down, the best review I have ever received from Publisher’s Weekly, and it’s starting 2024 off on a great note.

I especially love that they used words and phrases like “skillfully tugs on the heartstrings, nuanced tale, and satisfyingly twisty and realistic plot,” because those are the story elements that are most important to me as a writer and a reader.

You can pre-order the book here, and I’m hoping you’ll support the release by purchasing your copy now. It is greatly appreciated!

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Elin Hilderbrand Authors Visiting in Des Moines Zoom Event

  • May 28, 2021

I’m very excited to announce that I will be moderating the Des Moines Public Library Authors Visiting in Des Moines event with Elin Hilderbrand from 7:00-8:15 p.m. CST on Wednesday, June 9th. I am a longtime fan of Elin’s books, and I can’t wait to discuss her upcoming novel, Golden Girl, which will be released on June 1st.

This is a virtual event, so you can Zoom with us from the comfort of your own home. Even better? It’s absolutely free. To register, click here.

Please join us! It will be so much fun.

Elin Hilderbrand is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University and the Iowa Writers Workshop. She has become known as “The Queen of Beach Reads,” having written more than 20 novels, including romance, murder mysteries, historical fiction, and more. She’s perhaps most well-known for her best-selling “Summer Books,” including Summer of ’69, The Identicals, and The Perfect Couple. Her newest book, Golden Girl, is released June 1. Other series include The Winter Street Series and the recently concluded Paradise trilogy.

Her most recent mega-bestseller, 28 Summers, tells the story of a love affair spanning several decades between a woman, Mallory, and a man, Jake, that perseveres through marriage, children, and Jake’s wife’s rise to presidential hopeful. As Mallory is on her deathbed, her son uncovers the truth of his mother’s one-weekend-per-year affair, and everyone learns the way the relationship complicates and enriches their lives.

The event will be moderated by Tracey Garvis Graves, an Iowa-based bestselling author of novels such as On the Island and The Girl He Used to Know. Her next novel, Heard it in a Love Song, will be released in November.

The Girl He Used To Know Dream Cast

  • January 2, 2020

Hello, everyone!

I’ve been asked by quite a few readers who I’d want to play Annika and Jonathan if The Girl He Used to Know ever made it to the big screen. I’ll admit that I find this difficult because when I’m writing the book, the characters look sort of like faceless blobs in my head. Slowly, they come into focus but explaining what they look like can be challenging (with the exception of Annika who I compared in the book to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy).

For one, the actors I choose need to match up fairly well with the ages of the characters. This was the hardest thing about coming up with the actors who could play T.J. and Anna in On the Island. As each year went by, actors I’d chosen in the past started aging out of the roles. Luckily for me, Annika and Jonathan are a little easier. Here are the actors I’d love to see in the roles if Hollywood ever comes knocking (these choices first appeared on a Q&A I did for Chick Lit Central):

For Annika, Hillary Duff.

You guys, I love Hillary in Younger (which is a fantastic show if you’re not already familiar with it and looking for something addictive to binge-watch). Her character, Kelsey Peters, has never met an obstacle she couldn’t overcome, but I think it would be amazing watching Hillary portray Annika’s vulnerabilities and fears (as well as her giant heart).

For Jonathan, Robbie Amell.

The first movie I ever saw Robbie in was The Duff. He was awesome, he’s adorable, and he seems like he would embody all the best qualities of Jonathan: handsome, respectful, and kind.

For Janice, Emmy Rossum.

For some reason, I could totally see Emmy Rossum giving Annika advice, helping her to get ready for her first date with Jonathan, and being there for her when it seemed that all hope was lost.

If you had other actors in mind, feel free to tag me on Instagram @traceygarvisgraves and I’ll share your choices! I’d love to see them.

The Trade Paperback of The Girl He Used to Know Will Be Available on January 7th, 2020

  • December 13, 2019

Happy Holidays, everyone!

I don’t know about you, but I’m knee-deep in holiday shopping, decorating, baking (and eating). I absolutely love this time of year and I’m in my element from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Day.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who voted for The Girl He Used to Know in the Goodreads Choice Awards. It was my first nomination and it was truly an honor. I didn’t win, but I was absolutely thrilled to have been considered (and huge congratulations to winner Casey McQuiston’s Red, White & Royal Blue!).

I am so grateful for the amount of love that’s been shown for the book since its publication last April. I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t receive a message on social media about how the book has touched someone. That is the highest compliment you can give to an author and I want you to know how much it means to me.

This year, 2020 will start off with a bang because not only do I get to celebrate a new decade but also the publication of the trade paperback edition of The Girl He Used to Know (available January 7th). I can’t wait to hold it in my hands.

The trade paperback is available for pre-order now at the links below:

Amazon

Barnes & Noble

Books-A-Million

Indiebound

More exciting trade paperback launch news to come! But in the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season full of blessings, joy, and good cheer.

xoxo,

Tracey
