Happy Friday!

Many of you have been asking about my next book, and there’s nothing I’d love more than to tell you all about it, but I’ve been stuck in the submission pipeline since March. For those who are unfamiliar with the process, submission is when an author has fulfilled all of their publishing contracts and is now free to go out wide when seeking their next book deal. The author’s new manuscript is shared with as many editors as possible to find the best fit.

I’ve been on submission before with The Girl He Used to Know, but that was eight years ago, and it only took about six weeks. This time around, my experience has been very different. Editors are receiving enough submissions that a backlog has developed, so the wait is going to be longer.

I’ve set my sights firmly on 2026, and I’m keeping faith that things will unstick a little by then. In the meantime, I’m going to be spending the rest of the year deep in the writing cave so I can complete the manuscript that was already underway when I had my shoulder surgery. I’m happiest when I’m creating in solitude, and my hope is that the submission funnel will clear out a bit by next spring. In the meantime, I’m trying to be patient, and I hope you can be too.

Heads up: If you are a subscriber to my newsletter, I have moved from MailChimp to Substack. The same parameters apply: I’ll only send a newsletter when I have significant news to share, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
