On the Island’s Book Birthday Pictures

Hello everyone,
On the Island hit bookstores across the country on Tuesday! I didn’t realize just how awesome it would feel until I saw the trade paperback sitting on the shelf. This picture is from the Barnes & Noble at Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines. I sure do like their sign!
I went to Target next and there on the shelf, sandwiched between Elin Hilderbrand’s Summerland and Kristin Hannah’s Home Again, was my book.
My last bookstore was another Barnes & Noble. I almost didn’t stop, but it was on my way home so I thought, “Oh heck, why not.” While I was standing there taking a picture of the display with my phone, I overheard someone say “On the Island” so I totally started eavesdropping stood there, all nonchalant, and a woman and a B&N employee walked over. The customer was looking for On the Island. But she wanted to make sure it was the book written by the woman who lives in Des Moines. She questioned the B&N employee and the employee responded that she wasn’t sure but would find out. I couldn’t take it anymore because I was literally standing right there so I opened my big mouth contributed helpfully to the conversation. “Yes, that’s her,” I said. “I mean, I’m her. It’s me.” The customer looked shocked but then gave me a big smile despite my deranged grin. I explained that the book had just been released and that I wanted to stop in and see it on the shelf. She was buying a copy for herself and her daughter and I offered to sign them because I just happened to have a Sharpie in my purse. She was so nice and she made my afternoon. For the rest of the day I told that story to anyone who would listen.

  6. Would like to finish reading it…….but I’m missing over thirty pages of it! I sure hope this is a fluke and no other readers end up with defective copies like I did! And to see that amazon and chapters are both offering it for less than what I paid for it at Costco, it only adds salt to the wound!

I love this book, hubby got it for me last night and I finished it this morning…:-) congrats in it’s success so far and a big thanks for writing such a heart aching, butterflies in your stomach book :-)….. I have found a new passion for reading after I first read fifty… Buh I must Say this book is now my favourite by bar it’s more then sexual it’s what I esp a young stay at home mother of 4 is now loving to read and be taken away to a place of romance lol so again thanx looking forward to more cx

  11. Started less than 24 hours ao and I’m 170 pages in and absolutely loving this book. Oh my goodness..its headed to the top spot n my favorite books this year!!! Love it!!

  12. I have just finished the island and what can i say i read it in about four hours! What a beautiful written story had me gripped from the begining

    I am so missing TJ and Anna hope you add to the story again as I really would like them to of continued to be happy!

  14. I got your book to my Kindle, did not know it is a brand new…I just read the description and thought it would be a nice romantic type read. I got into it very quickly as someone who likes adventures and was drown into it more and more as it went on.   16. I’m on vacation at Florida, I’m a 33 year old teacher, single ,with 0 kids. On the Island touched me profoundly, I couldn’t get my eyes off it. Ill make sure your book makes it to my Island : Dominican Republic… Excellent!! I loved it.

And what a treat for the lady to actually have an opportunity to meet the author and have her sign the books. You’ve given HER a story that she’s sure to repeat many times over. Too fun!
